Dean is one of the founding directors of Inventive Entertainment.

Dean holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Communications from the University of Canberra, and was a project manager and IT consultant. He worked throughout the world including the Czech Republic, UK, Philippines and Africa.

Returning to study at the University of Canberra, he focussed on script writing and then began producing and directing his own successful short films in 1999. Two years later Dean won ACT Filmmaker of the Year, followed in 2002 by recognition as an Emerging Producer by the Screen Producer’s Association of Australia (SPAA) of which he is a member of, alongside membership with the Australian Film Institute (AFI), the Australian Screen Directors Association (ASDA), and Screen Producer’s Association of Australia (SPAA).

It was running a logging operation and sawmill in Zimbabwe with a workforce of 70 people that gave Dean an appetite for bossing people around that he has not been able to shake. Thus for the last three years, Dean has worked on development of the high budget TV series Silicon Spies, which has received $150,000 in ACT government assistance.
