Mal is en-route to NATPE in the US for Jan 25th 2010.

Mal is on his was to the North American Television production Executive (ATPE) Conference 2010 in Las Vegas.

It’s been three years since we hit the road in 2006 to go to MIPCOM in Cannes. We got a lot of feedback from the market, as well as from our pitch sessions with Sci-Fi in the US and UK.

We’re not planning big pitches in the US, more like checking the scene and making introductions. While in the UK Mal will catchup with DRG, Sci-Fi and Fireworks who all gave the thumbs up to his GATEWAY 22 project.

We’ve also done some work on Icekeeper, bringing it into the future and picking up an element from the book where Vitellan lost his memory for a while in Melbourne en route to Antartica. We drop the viewer into that action moment but the amnesia plays out for much of the series now.

Will provide updates from Mal’s trip as he goes.

Style and technology clash hilarously as these “It Girls” walk all over their male counterparts, challenging stereotypes and trampling delicate male egos wherever they dare to overstep “the mark”.
Part Lilly Allen, part uber-nerds and all attitude, they rule the I.T. section with a well manicured fist…

The principal backer for Inventive Entertainment and a shining example to other state governments, BusinessACT has take the step of granting additional travel funds for market attendance. BusinessACT has already provided Proof of Concept and Commericalisation grants as part of the visionary Knowledge Fund programme. After four years of development, hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours of effort, the four television projects on the Inventive Slate are finally being exposed to world opinion in the tough arena of MIPCOM.

Securing European and other interest in the projects is an essential part of the business model whereby multiple pre-sales in different territories enable larger budgets than previously possible on Australian Network sales alone. The bigger budgets are needed to tell the more imaginative science-fiction and fantasy stories that Inventive hopes will crack international markets.

Inventive is delighted to announce that Ann Darrouzet has agreed to act as mentor to the team as they head over for their first MIPCOM. Ann has won two AFI awards and an Emmy for her previous television work which includes HOLLY’S HEROES, TINA AND HORACE and SPARKY D COMES TO TOWN. Ann has been to MIPCOM every year for the last six years and finds the market an ideal place to secure initial interest. The team at Inventive are understandably ecstatic that such a hard working and credible producer as Ann has chosen to lend us her support.
